I’ll digress a bit from the health topics tonight and mention the movie I just watched…waited for for over six months from my movie rental place, it was on back order for that long.

I won’t give away anything the promotions don’t already provide, but goodness sakes, not a movie to watch if you’re in a bad mood, lol.

The effects were pretty amazing, but the characters were very unlikeable, (good actors, unlikable characters), a little bit of violence towards animals which unreal or not is always unappealing to me and affects my ability to enjoy the movie, and the “skittish” camera work makes ya dizzy on a large screen.

I don’t remember the movie being promoted at all. Happened to discover it through my movie rental place, and it sounded interesting and artsy, which I usually enjoy.

The movie was about the world ending, and seemed to take some of the story line from the Planet X lore of years past, whereby an incoming planet collides with Earth, etc.

Have you noticed that there is a LOT of “end of the world” concerns among people now, be it the 2012 thing, economic collapse, or any other number of theories.

Having dealt with severe illness myself, I learned how to perpetually live as if I don’t know how much time I have left. This however is true for us all. None of us know what the future holds.

In that light, it’s important that I am able to live life to the fullest, and keeping myself as healthy as possible enables me to do that from a physical, mental and spiritual perspective. I personally believe all facets are one, tied in together. And I live my life that way.

I wish it did not take a monumental event in my life to change my perspective. I do believe everything happens for a reason, and where I am now, compared to where I was previous to the illness, is a world apart. I’m the same person under it all, at my core…but with new perspectives that I’d likely have never known otherwise, and with a greater appreciation than ever for what life offers me here and now. Best of all, I maintain this approach to life on a daily basis, and I believe it helps forge my reality.

Love, Happiness, Health and Peace…………Tim

Brooke can have a great career in endorsing products via ads, and make a great living at it. I do not judge that, she is beautiful and fit, and I love that she’s on the “older” side…meaning is not a teenager we see so often in ads…proving that women can look awesome at any age with just some serious motivation and effort (in the ad below she was in her late 30′s…WHAT a body for all women over 35 to aspire to!).

She is a great role model in that regard, and from what I’ve seen of her in personal interviews, seems like a great person.

HOWEVER…

One does NOT get legs and butts like the ones shown below in the short video simply by wearing a certain kind of sneaker/shoe. Not legs and butts like THIS:

The FTC finally got involved in this ad campaign and ended up with a $40 million dollar (!) settlement with Sketchers for making unfounded claims about what their special kind of footwear can/can’t do for a ladies body. Alligations where made that studies were misrepresented by the company, including claims of weight loss happening, when in fact it did not.

Reebok’s Easytone received a similar fate, to the tune of about $25 million.

The money is supposed to go towards refunds, and no doubt “processing/handling” of the refunds in part by the government (the government never gets involved unless public outcry is large enough, AND/OR there is enough money in the pursuit to provide revenue for the government pursuit of the matter via wages and who-knows what else. We’ve certainly seen more government-based witch hunts than are reasonable I think most people would agree).

There’s no way around it folks. No short cuts. As soon as everyone begins to realize that the only way real weight and fat loss happens is via a sincere effort and understanding of how fat is removed from the body via a lifestyle diet and specific forms of activity, nothing will change.

We live in a society that causes obesity by default. Everything about the way we eat and act, and the system of commerce we utilize, is consumerism-based. We consume more, and more, and will then consume even more in an effort to reduce something that can’t be reduced when consuming is the focal point of our lives on every level…money, products, food…all “feeding” upon themselves, pun intended.

When I was a kid, Bon Jovi was coming on the scene for all the teenaged girls to go ga-ga over, with his handsome features and way-cool, teased, frosted-spiked hair.

And let’s not forget the ultra-tight pants and bowling-ball buttocks.

It is darn bizarre to see, just about exactly 30 years later, this New Jersey rocker endorsing an over-the-counter pain medication. In fairness, I always find it bizarre when any rock star endorses much of any product. It just seems so out of place, somewhat contrary to the against-the-grain-to-hell-with-the-status-quo attitude of rock ‘n roll in general, and leads me to believe the endorser is for some reason in need of money…no judgement at all in this case, it’s just the first thing that pops in to my mind.

Perhaps because Jon is now a country rock star, it’s a little more acceptable. (?)

I imagine those tight pants back in the day must surely have caused a lot of soreness in certain parts. Perhaps at the least, just getting in and out of them might have been painful. Then all that hair teasing, likely yanking on the scalp to achieve that effect.

I can almost see the commercial now:

“Hi, I’m Jon Bon Jovi. You know me as a rock star, but what you don’t know is what kind of pain I’m often in, in order to pull off being that rock star; It takes two pairs of pliers to pull on these pants, never mind how I get them off, and teasing these luxurious locks makes it feel as if I’m pulling my hair out every night. Thanks to Advil, I’m able to tackle these kinds of aches and pains and get out there on the stage, bringing you my tight bum night after night, and I wouldn’t be without it, or my fifth of whiskey to help wash it down…”

(type of thing)

I’d have liked to have seen THAT kind of ad instead.

Regardless, this drug has one hella’ list of side-effects. Just check out the mayo clinics listing of them below, and decide if this is a drug you want to be ingesting for your pain. In my opinion, there’s lots of alternatives that are much safer and healthier that can be used instead:

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/drug-information/DR602345/DSECTION=side-effects

(Below is in response to one of my program participants asking me about why iodine is important, and her not understanding what detoxification is and why it is so crucial to good health and weight management):

I would not be able to advise you on what you should or shouldn’t be doing. Instead I can give you a little more info and tell you about what I/we do/use:

Bromide is all over flour products as part of the processing of flours. We have massive exposures to it in the western world (see more in link below). Chlorine is in the water both via drinking, showering, and huge exposure via swimming. It occurs naturally in the body, but we are over-exposed according to theories we support and it then displaces iodine in the body, an element we count on for antipathogen properties among a host of other benefits such as metabolism. Breast and prostate issues are being tied to iodine deficiency more and more, among a huge host of other problems, Fibromyalgia being a biggie.

You would have to talk to the companies and ask them about dosaging, since I do not sell the product. I get mine from nutrimedical (Dr. Deagle), and I know people who get the Magnascent brand below.

http://www.magnascent.com/esp/PramList2.aspx?PrimCat=Bottle

Detoxification is simply about removing the toxic burden from our bodies. It is so pervasive in our lives now that I personally feel it needs to be done daily and for life, else we accumulate the toxins which can lead to problems. The body tries to segregate toxins as best it can (including into fat cells) but all of this requires energy and taxes the body, and leads to illness.

Anyone can feel the detox from iodine. I started at one drop and added a drop a day tapering off around 4 drops for a while, then moved up into higher drops. Dr. Deagle at the nutrimedical site I referenced above discusses 15 drops a day, even twice a day for ill folks. The thing about that is, mid-back/kidney discomfort will surely be felt when people take this much. If a person can get there without back pain, all the better (they will usually derive lots of benefits…less illness, sharper mind, more energy, easier weight loss, etc) but most of us are so toxic that the discomfort is felt as the kidneys get loaded with the mainly bromide that the iodine is displacing in the body…iodine going where it SHOULD go, where the bromide should NOT be, on the cell receptors). The standard protocol once kidney discomfort is felt is to back off the iodine for a few days, and take in lots of water with extra crystal salt (MUST be a full-spectrum salt, not table salt/sodium chloride). I take a quarter teaspoon of crystal salt a few times a day for this purpose, also called a “salt push.” It relieves the discomfort within a couple days. Then I resume the iodine, placing it on my arm and leg joints or near the joints out of personal preference. Occasionally a drop near my groin for prostate benefit.

More:

http://www.medhelp.org/user_journals/show/161956/Bromide-is-causing-Iodine-deficiencey-in-many

Too many people notice really great benefits from gentle, and long-term experimentation with iodine supplementation. People report feeling better than ever.

Hence my email on it, since that’s what I’m all about.

The “Big Announcement” will be arriving two weeks from now at latest. I am finalizing some necessary testing, and some third parties are getting involved. Due to specific circumstances, I will not be able to divulge the info until then, but I have been promised two weeks from now everything WILL be in place.

There are other great new developments as well, but for today, I just wanted to focus on something that I’ve added to my program, that those who are well past the first month of emails will not have been exposed to; and it’s important to everyone, so please take a moment:

When we do our cleansing fast, we are of course in a process of detoxification, the focus being the colon. This is a great first step, as clearing out the colon helps make other forms of detoxification even more efficient.

Another form of detox that is readily felt by most people when tried is the use of nascent iodine.

This is a supplement I have referenced in passing in my program, that can and has for many people produced profound benefits, even going so far as to reduce various pain issues and symptoms often labeled as Fibromyalgia.

Iodine needs to be used very prudently and very carefully. It was removed from our food supply in what many researchers believe was one of the greatest dietary mistakes the powers-that-be have ever made. I’m not too far from disagreeing. There are several areas where western society has become either insufficient or outright deficient in nutrients, the most popular of which are vitamin D, B12 (I stick to the methyl variety only) and perhaps vitamin C (I get most of mine from camu berry, but will use ascorbic acid on occasion mostly for therapeutic applications).

With iodine, I started out at a mere one drop on my arm of the nascent iodine. I then went to two drops the next day.

After a short time, I began to experience mid-back/kidney discomfort.

This is the sign that my kidney’s are being overloaded.

And that an effective detoxification is in place.

Iodine displaces fluoride, chlorine, and bromide in the body. It will temporarily build up in the kidneys producing a mild discomfort, which I then eliminate via temporarily stopping the iodine use, and taking in 1/4 teaspoon of salt with lots of water several times a day (known as a “salt push”).

For me, and many others, part of the detox effect will also include a bit of brain fog. But it has also resulted in increased energy and clarity, and an apparent positive effect on mitochondria, our energy centers at the cellular level.

Most people simply notice the benefits.

It has been one of those worthwhile paths I’ve taken that I thought I’d share more on with the FLFL community.

The exciting news IS coming, stay tuned!!!!!

Love, Happiness, Health and Peace……………….Tim

A friend of mine is a fan of drinking Vitamin Water. I was looking at the label and just astounded at how little this drink has to offer in terms of health and nutrition, and how much it offers to the contrary.

It’s an easy one from my perspective.

The first three ingredients are water, fructose and cane sugar, with a total sugars listed at 32 grams on the label.

I discuss at length in my program why this is an issue not only for people concerned about losing fat, but more importantly, why this can contribute greatly to poor health.

My friend who drinks this is almost six feet tall and approaching 300 pounds.

I also get a kick over how the label claims “”100% vitamin C.”

They use ascorbic acid as their vitamin C source, which I don’t have much problem with, but the Daily Value of vitamin C set by the powers-that-be is ridiculously low to maintain any real sense of health. The levels set are primarily there to prevent scurvy, and little else.

Preferring to get my C from a natural source like Camu, we get over 1000%, ten times, the daily value of C in a very small serving, and in natural form, and with its myriad of sub-components found only in a natural food source, micronutrients of which our science doesn’t even yet understand, is surely a far superior way to get vitamin C over a sugar drink that labels itself in what I feel is a rather deceptive manner.

After all: Don’t most people associate vitamins with superior health? That the proper intake of vitamins will likely lead to a greater sense of well-being, avoiding the pitfalls of malnourishment that are common even in well-fed societies?

Their is nothing wrong in my opinion with using vitamins for specific ailments, medicinally, if understood and used properly.

But to suggest that a sugar drink has something more to offer you than a whole food source or wholefood supplements (the vitamins in Vitamin Water are all lab-made) is silly…worst of all, misleading to the public who often does not know any better and places trust in what is being advertised on a mass scale as something that is actually beneficial and helpful to them.

Love, Happiness, Health and Peace………..Tim

Just so we’re clear, I would not suggest anyone use steroids for any reason, just about ever, except under extra ordinary circumstances of need, such as in extreme cases of inflammation when organ failure may be imminent. This is yet another great example of how western medicine has become severely abused; methods designed for effective worst-case trauma care, have instead become a standard of acceptable abuse, ranging from the overly prescribed travesty of antibiotics to the legalized virtual hand-out of pain killers occurring in doctors offices instead of on the street corner.

The below is a gross example of what happens to a body when steroids are used. I know men at my gym who use them, and attempt to balance the use of them with other forms of hormonal enhancements, cycling their use and claiming that it’s safe to do so.

So many problems can arise from this kind of use/abuse, a list so long, that all that really needs to be asked is this:

“Does how this man looks below in this video, look healthy to you?”

Stats from the CDC state that over one third of US adults remain obese.

A new projection states that by 2030, that will rise another nine percent, having us approach half of all Americans.

Stats have stabilized recently, since the 80‘s and 90‘s when people were gaining weight in huge numbers, (an effect almost everyone was conscious of if one simply looked around) but the trend still points towards an slow, ever-increasing rate as we move forward.

I used to visit my Grandmother in Syracuse back when she was alive in the late 90‘s, to take her out to the local malls, restaurant, etc on a very regular basis. She had some physical challenges, so we would have to borrow wheelchairs either from the home she stayed at, or else at the mall on occasion to help get her around. She was born in the 19-teens or so, and was very “old school” and opinionated.

She was also hard of hearing.

So when she wanted to comment on something, she would often say it very loudly, not realizing we could all hear her easily (even though she couldn’t hear us).

Without exception, every trip we made to see her (and we would dread this when it happened) she would find a time to comment, out loud, about what she saw all around us…

“Evvvvvery-body is so FAAAAT!”

“Gramma, keep your voice DOWN!” we would scold her.

But she was right.

Mind you, she was about 40 pounds heavier than was healthy for her frame.

But that didn’t stop her from voicing her observations.

The most interesting stat from the CDC suggests that by that same time in 2030, the number of those severely overweight will literally *double*…those already obese will continue to put on the pounds. This will impact our youth the most, as this projection applies to overweight kids and their tendency to continue to gain.

The lifestyle I teach is not “easy.” It CAN’T be, because the western diet is now pervasive in almost every country in the world. We are *used to* certain foods.

But therein lies the key.

Can you get *used to* a new way of living, a new lifestyle, if it afforded you the opportunity to lose that weight and keep it off permanently via that lifestyle?
Did any of us enjoy that cigarette we tried the first time, before we became hooked?

Or that shot of cheap whiskey?

(Really, who ever tried them and said “YUMMMM!”)

You can get used to anything. Including a new choice in foods, a new range of activity, and a new mind set above it all.

A few years back, a well-known national chain had a “juice bar” of sorts, where people could go before or after a workout to buy any range of pre-post workout protein drinks or similar.

I looked closely at the ingredients of some of these drinks, and was absolutely shocked at the sugar content. The protein powders alone had loads of sugars or artificial sweeteners, and then they would ADD a fruit juice to the drinks, or canned fruits as well (canned fruits alone often use a sugar-syrup to add to the flavor punch) on top of that.

I knew the workers there. They confided in me that the amount of sweeteners used in the drinks that they sorely overcharged for was off-the-charts. That basically, the only people who should even be considering buying and drinking these things down were the competitive bodybuilders, and those in their *bulking stage only* as compared to any other phase of their training.

We agreed that most anyone else, should not be getting NEAR these drinks. That these drinks would surely only add weight and/or fat, unless enough of a workout was had to compensate for the amount of calories, carbs/sugars and fats that were being ingested.

I once saw a person smoking outside the same gym, just outside the entrance door.

I wonder if she was a fan of aerobics.

Baby Food.

My stance on this is super-easy.

Organic baby foods are almost always clearly labeled as such.

I don’t have any children, but if I did, this is a no-brainer.

I’d want my child avoiding pesticides, antibiotics, fertilizers, hormones, genetically modified foods, additives, irradiation and the like. It seems obvious that an infant, of all humans, is likely to have the most difficulty with these kinds of additions to the food, and could be the most impacted by them. Their developing bodies likely handle these issues in a much more delicate manner than an adults would, and on top of this, most baby foods are pureed, making the concentration of these additives potentially much higher. An adult eating the whole fruit or vegetable in comparison is likely to have less of a toxic burden.

I would never want my child consuming anything outside of organic, except for those standards that are of course higher; knowing a local pesticide-free grower of foods (or growing myself) and making the baby food on my own as one option.

I would choose labels with “organic” over “made with organic ingredients,” for which the standards on the latter are a lower percentage of organic foods in the product.

The labels on most baby foods seem pretty clear about what you’re getting. And for me, cost would not be an issue. This is our babies health we are talking about, making the expense a total non-issue.

Easy choices on this topic.

Love, Happiness, Health and Peace……….Tim
